On topic: The article makes some good points. I can't help but feel it'd be more valid if the Wii was $150 or less. Who buys a $270 system and then WANTS cheap games

On topic, shovelware is a symptom of success, not a disease. All Wii games aren't cheap, infact some are the best so far this gen.

In fact, Wii is a developers system. Developers have freedom to do what they want, just like with the DS. Without that freedom, the DS model wouldn't have worked out so well for the Wii.

Most people who complain about shovelware, complain for three reasons:

A. They are looking for an excuse to flame the Wii and its library.

B. They are tired of hearing about shovelware from people who use it to flame the Wii and its library.

C. The resent having to review tons of shovelware games.

To the average Wii owner, who is a relatively smart individual and doesn't hang on forums with Sony and Microsoft fanboy Wii-haters all day, none of these are a problem whatsoever.

A common misconception is that shovelware games would have been badass "hardcore" games if Nintendo had a seal of quality. Wrong. Shovelware games would instead be games that didn't exist on the Wii, if it wasn't for the Wii being a developers system designed to created money for 3rd party developers as well as entertain a much vaster audience than its competition.

Shovelware is good for the industry, it's a symptom of success, its a testament of the Wii following the DS gameplan, and the Wii isn't getting a price drop until people stop avoiding not buying it, like plague.

U c wut I did thar?

Either way, I, and a lot of other humans that are considered "smart" think the Wii is a good deal. Lets not degrade our purchasing philosophy unless directly confronted, shall we?

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
