A year has 52 weeks, typically November is x2 a regular month and December x4. So November is like adding 4 weeks and December like adding 12. Make it a 68 weeks. ( 52 + 4 + 12) 175k x68 = 11.9 Millions. That's if sales stay at their current level. It's not unrealistic to expect them to go up with the games coming out this year... 14 Million would be the realistic thing to announce but they should shoot for 15 millions. |
Yeah, good job with the numbers. I agree on 12 mill sold with current trend*, then 1-2 extra millions thanks to games and even a possible late price drop, which gives 13-14 mill sold to consumers. Thats what Sony will predict. But the retail channel might be a bit stuffed by the current fiscal year shipments, so a gap up to 15mill shipped seems a little high, so I predict Sony will play it safe and forecast 14 million shipped PS3s in Fiscal 2008-09.
* Although I believe VGC right now is overtracking both the X360 and the PS3 world-wide (mainly the US numbers by 20%), 13-14 mill for the Fiscal year is possible.
