The problem is you can't. Go buy some Canadian versions of US food on ebay or something and taste the difference. The problem is due to food portions and lack of excercise not some fats in the food.

I wouldn't say making food healthier can't help a little, but you are right that portion control and exercise is more important. That being said, we're allowed to smoke and eat a bunch of things that are never good for us in any dose. If they've linked a certain thing to heart disease across the board, getting rid of it is a good idea in my opinion.
Also, I guarantee that if McDonalds is forced to use different methods, they will still produce a food that people think is very tasty.

Mcdonalds hasn't used trans fat for 5 years...

Eh, they sort of do.
Vegetable oil and Canola oil actually have unlisted transfats.

Yeah, I know about that. I just didn't want to elaborate. But that article elaborates well.
Still though, It would be interesting to see results on the new oil vs the old oil. I don't think most people would claim that french fries are ever the most healthy thing to eat.
Regardless, I don't like government regulating these things, information is out there on trans fats. You can choose or not to choose to eat it. Just like you can choose or not to drink or smoke. Reality is always more complicated than what I'm saying ofcourse.
