I don't buy Nintendo products (But I do want a 3DS for Pokemon), but it would depend on when they dropped it, how much support it got and the reasons behind it.
There is no good reason to drop the WiiU though, at worst they should get to a point where the hardware is profitable and ride out the generation. They have nothing to gain and much more to lose quitting on WiiU now.
