Nintendo needs to understand that quality in itself doesn't cut it. If you're not into the whole Mario stuff, it doesn't matter how well made a Mario game is, it's still Mario. It's like Tetris is Tetris, no matter how good the quality. Nintendo cannot keep reiterating the same stuff over and over if they want to broaden their userbase. Now, there's no denying that a new IP will struggle and real breakthroughs are rare with new things, but you have to try, that's what everyone else does. Of course the others have their annual surefire shooters and sports games to cover their experimental costs, but maybe Nintendo could do the same thing with their franchises and what winnings the Wii provided them? Why are they sitting on their asses? Or maybe it's too late? Maybe it's become a well established fact that shooters and cinematic stuff and whatever else is handled by the other two companies and Nintendo does Nintendo stuff? It won't be easy to change that perception.
