On Wii there was the Wii ____ series, Xenoblade, Disaster Day of Crisis,  Endless Ocean.

As for legacy IPs, Wii also revived several, like Sin & Punishment, Punch-Out, and Excite Truck/Bots.

You implied NIntendo did not put out "a few new IPs per gen", or make games from legacy IPs, which is not true.  They may have not have gotten around to this on Wii U yet, but the thing hasn't even been out for a year yet. If you want a new IP on Wii U, there's Wonderful 101 and ZombiU.
