The premise that some of you are using in which a game that changes it's formula a lot is a game that can keep up-to-date with modern standards is flimsy, at best.
For starters, these so called "modern" standards are in no way or shape better than the standards of previous video game generations. If anything, those standards have lowered in a large example of VG series, whose quality has shown a large drop from previous entries, just because they tried to "modernize".
Keeping up with the OP, it's also another premise which is flimsy. Why would you think that any other developer/publisher would do better with a franchise that they know nothing about? Do you actually believe that they would do better than the original developers/publishers, whose core idea they have been developing, updating and improving for the past 18 years?.
I would say that there's some large hints of discrimination coming from the OP, because I don't think a similar thread would be made coming from him if it was a game from a developer/publisher he preferred.
