I wish Nintendo didn't own the rights to the Pokemon IP

I know a quite a few people that are currently playing this game and were evening playing Animal Crossing. All of them are 18+ (College age). It surprised me because I've never been interested in them so, I didn't really know what age group these games appealed to until I saw so many people playing them on campus, in class, etc...
