JWeinCom said: I work retail gaming. We had 8 preorders for Pokemon X, and 5 for Y. We easily sold through 100 copies of the two games. Nintendo is very non aggressive when it comes to pushing preorders, and they have a large amount of younger fans who may not preorder. There are often no incentives to preorder their games unless you're legitimately concerned about them not having copies. So, yeah. It's not hard to imagine a 3,4, or even 5:1 ration from preorder to sale, especially if that includes digital sales. |
Correct, people don't generally pre-order a title like Pokemon (or most Nintendo games for that matter). X and Y sold well over 1.5 million in one day in the USA.

What about Europe? Something like 1.5-2m in USA would mean it had to sell ~1m in Europe. And did MC/Famitsu release numbers for Japan yet or is this just your own estimate?

Well there is also the rest of the world which many people seem to forget and this one had a release date in every country it's available in too.
