We'll see how well the new consoles do against PS360 in their first year.  They won't fare as poorly as WiiU because Nintendo completely dropped the ball post launch, but if you're expecting Wii numbers for either of those consoles I think you're in for a surprise.

As for your last sentence, you still just don't get it; the market is taking longer to shift away from the PS360 because they were intended to have longer lifespans than previous consoles.

Niether of the new systems need Wii numbers to beat the ps3... Though I wish that were true because that would mean the Ps3 would be challenging the Ps2 in most systems sold.
