I seriously don't see how using it is considered "easy mode" because the game isn't any "easier" without it. It's only faster, which is better because this way you don't have to spend 3 hours training two pokemon to the level you need it to be to get it to fight on its own.
edit: Though I would say O-Powers may be "easy mode"
