TP sold 1.5 million on a dead console as a new one was being released (in which the more popular version was being sold). Not to mention the Gamecube had such a terrible installbase to begin with.
That's incredible on it's own.
TP wouldn't have sold if it wasn't appealing. You can say it rode the Wii wave like you can say any Wii game released from 2006-2008 rode the Wii wave. Keep in mind that Wii Sports was the all-time big seller which most people were satisfied with alone, and yet TP still sold nearing 7 million on Wii alone in it's life time. That's also incredible.
So graphics sadly do matter when it comes to Zelda. In the same way Wind Waker-like graphics wouldn't work for CoD, some people think it doesn't work for Zelda either.
Though PH sold well for it's innovation, ST showed it couldn't hold up, despite still selling very well.
