Miyamoto personally oversaw Luigi's Mansion 2's development, so in that case the leash was probably rather tight.

Still, Next Level Games (which is a Canadian developer, props to my country) made a pretty darn good job on LM2. But hey, they did the remake of Punch-Out!! on Wii and it was more than decent.

NLG has potential, for sure. I could be wrong, but I think adding multiplayer to the game was their idea, and it worked out surprisingly well.
