I think PC + Nintendo is the way to go this gen, but if you don't have a PC and you don't mind paying to play online and aren't a fan of Nintendo's IP then I can totally understand going with the 4BONE. They're affordable and seem to have a lot of third party support.
They seem to be behind PCs already graphically already, but for an all-in-one package, they seem like a pretty good deal. Especially the PS4 in the US @ $399. Here in AU it's launching @ $549 + ~$100 per game + $70 PS+ so I guess here a PC seems like a better overall value proposition. X1 is slightly worse at $599 + ~$100 per game + $80 Live.
EDIT: Just for reference I got my Wii U near launch for $299 with ZombiU. $299 is my sweet spot for consoles. The game sealed the deal as I wasn't really interested otherwise. Glad I did now though with all the great games coming.
