It's already 392k behind P3rd aligned according to Media Create Sales, which ties into my expectations that this would be the biggest launch in the series, but with weaker legs than P3rd and Unite (though the launch might still take it over Unite in LTD) for a variety of reasons, Pokemon in a month and Nintendo having a vested interest in personally hyping the launch bigger than ever (making things more frontloaded) being the biggest two.

Christmas launch for P3rd aside, I see 3.9 million to 4.3 million Japanese lifetime, and I don't see this one hitting 4 million in 10 weeks like P3rd either.

Digital sales may bring it closer, but really that'll likely be impossible to tell since we don't have digital sale numbers available for Unite and P3rd to compare them to.

add 255k from digital downloads+ cards from the fw (confirmed) the gap is much much smaller, also it doesn't include digital for 2nd week so the gap could be even more less!

The problem is we don't know the P3rd digital numbers, and while I'm sure digital is bigger today than it was in 2010, I doubt 0 digital copies were sold at launch.

it was 0 lol, it didn't have digital sales intill 6 months after launch. Also Capcom stated i think around 300k digital wen it was released

Could I get a source on both of those? They seem to be talking about ot a month before launch here: http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/38854/t1593100-should-buy-monster-hunter-freedom-unite-wait-3-more-weeks-get-portable-3rd/

http://monsterhunternews.com/2011/07/playstation-store-japan-getting-mhp3rd-digital-version/ remember mhp3 came out dec of 2010, this means the digital version came out over 7 months later
