Yeah, I understand that copied features will come through updates. I don't get how the medium of transfer was related though.

I can honestly say to you that iPhones are not infamous for fantastic battery life. Nobody has bragged to me about that. The only smartphone infamous for battery life is Droid Razr Maxx.

As for prices, I was looking at prices to straight-up buy them. That's a much simpler way to compare them. If you're going to compare contract prices, you have to also look at the plans you get, as well as the plan prices.

But, just to use your simplified methodology, I just checked contract prices. 5S is 230 on a 2-year agreement. The S4 can currently actually be found as low as 50 on a 2-year term; it's also 60-180 for versions that aren't on sale. Even at the extreme end of the spectrum, it is 50 dollars cheaper. I understand that 5S is the newer device, but you will not find other phones going for more than the iPhone when they release, despite the fact that they can be months newer.

Edit: I'm in Canada by the way.

I guess location makes a huge difference. I can only speak for the US and here both phones carry a similar price tag.

 

Also, yes the iPhones may not have the BEST overall battery life, but they are very well known for high battery life. It used to be one of the biggest pros when it came to comparisons. I think the current tops tend to be the Razr Maxx, followed by the HTC One and then the iPhone 5.

No idea where the 5S factors in at this point.
