I know you've been quoted a hundred times on this thread and responded an hundred times, but I'm not sure why your anger was immediately directed towards a fellow 2D Platformer in the New Super Mario Bros. series.
Thanks to the huge resurgance of the series (and the tidal wave of sales we saw from it), other developers saw potential to create games in the genre as well. For all intents and purposes, the 2D Platformer was dead since the 5th Generation. The world moved on to 3D (and even now, 3D Platformers aren't a dime a dozen like they were in the PSX/N64 days), and the only chance you'd get of seeing a 2D Platformer was with indie or download only titles (and I'm sure you've noticed plenty of users who are still baffled that this genre exists outside of that ecosystem).
The huge success of the NSMB series isn't a detriment to other 2D platformers, rather, it allows that huge audience to continue to purchase similar titles in the genre (which is why we saw a renaissance of the 2D Platformer for the 7th gen... starting with the NSMB series).
So when you see quality platformers like Rayman Legends and Puppeteer not performing well, I really think that targeting a fellow 2D Platformer is pretty backwards. We gotta stick together!
