The fact that the Deluxe model is by far the better seller shows that consumers see the extra value despite being more expensive. Phasing out the Basic and cutting the Deluxe by $50 is the right choice and is what Wii U should have been since launch. Also have a "casual" and "Nintendo core" bundle is a good idea.
The price cut alone wont make a huge difference, maybe a nice boost for a couple weeks and raising the baseline by a few thousand but a price cut along with a plethora of high quality titles that appeal to multiple demographics right in time for the holidays will increase sales.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
