The price cut's results were a bit anticlimatic, especially when looking back at the 3DS price cut. I don't think Killzone will be the savior some people are hoping for either. Killzone isn't that big a series, and it doesn't seem to be a system seller. Looking back into the series history, Killzone 2 did boost sales for the PS3 by a fair amount, but its boost mostly wore off in a few weeks, even with the release of Resident Evil 5 inflating numbers. Killzone 3 also boosted sales, but not by as much, and once again the effect soon wore off.
Furthermore, I'm not sure if people are going to be big advocates of the game and spread the word of mouth. Reviews for Mercenary are actually slightly worse than those of 2006's Liberation for the PSP (which, incidentally, did not break a million).
Not all is lost for the Vita. God Eater 2 will help in Japan and Tearaway will help elsewhere. Killzone, however, is just a step in the right direction, not the remedy for the Vita's ills.
