While personally I am agnostic about the legalization of Marijuana, meaning I don't care either way, I do think that even if/when/where it is legal NO company should be forced to hire those who make use of it. Especially in certain types of professions that require that people be awake, aware and alert during work operations like military or public service, heavy machinery operation and definitely an aerospace outfit where mistakes (assuming you are a machinist or engineer) could lead to a lapse in safety on the job or in the final product where peoples lives would be at rick. That said I think ANY employer should be allowed to hire based on whether they agree with your use of drugs/alcohol even if it is inconsequental to work place safety i.e. personal objections. If a locality votes to legalize the use of Marijuana, great smoke it up. But no one should be forced to hire you if they themselves don't like the use of drugs or if it could affect your awareness and compromise the safety of others. |
Well, yeah, I would be pissed is people drank on the job too. However, what's the problem with someone going home after a tough day and smoking a joint as opposed to having a few drinks?
If you smoke pot and go to work the next day you really don't have any negative effects. No hangovers and such like with alchohol.
I wish I was an engineer, lol, they make more money than I do. I work in production control.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
