Considered best anime of 2011 by whom? Seriously, I would love to know the name of a good aggrigate rating site for Anime. I looked at animenfo and watched many of the best anime's there, but I would love a second source. As for Sweet Blue Flowers, I really don't like High School Anime's, I'm 24 and it feels like it's targeted towards people who's priorities in life make no sense, and relationships which 99.5% of the time are targeted towards virgins and have an over-zealous and overly complicated view on sex and relationships. Basically I don't like high school drama. As for Bunny Drop, I could like that, maybe. It's different, and short, so why not give it a shot? I'll think about it. |

and probably a few others.
And me, and believe it or not, i didn't miss any hit in 2011 and 2012; and 2011 was freaking awesome (usagi drop, steins gate, mawaru penguindrum, denpa onna =3)
There is even a beat them all adaptation from tower frontier (tasofro), an official game, three manga series, fandom everywhere, etc
For high school animes well ... I've been an otaku for 10 years now. I had enough. Sweet blue flowers, is, before anything a josei (targets 18-25 women).
You may like Baccano and Durarara (Urban fantasy, well written, very different atmosphere, a lot inspired by snatch, weird but cool design), considering your taste, but not sure.
For stupid but funny, the best are k-on and lucky star. Seriously. There is Haruhi, and probably the most in your taste if you liked High school of the dead "Baka to test to shoukanjo"

so even if I wanted to try it.... I've looked into Sword Art Online, not interested.
