It's slated currently for Q1 2014. Isn't that March at earliest, and IGN has it as Q2. So it seems it should come out around late April or May which is six months and although KZ is a launch game, it doesn't really have much legs as a series. They are decent holding about 20k until about Christmas of their launch year but I'm expecting weaker legs since its launching around christmas time and it would blow most of its sales at launch at higher initial sales than its predecessors but topping out somewhere between 1.5 & 2 million in the spring. This isn't accounting for if they make it a PS+ game which would certainly put it above Titanfall. Titanfall has the benefit of being enomorously hyped, being praised all around, a famous pedigree of developers behind it and a larger marketing campaign availble since it's being called the new CoD killer. They are also going to mostly market the XBONE version overall with only mentions that its coming to 360. Also the number of Xbones at its release will be greater than PS4 at launch and will be a launch title for a number of countries. They are probably follow similar sales curves but the Titanfall curve should be larger. |
So if it is slated for Q1 2014, that means March at the latest, it is logical to think it will release in March.
Killzone 3 sold 2.5m, but it seems to missing European numbers, 180k seems on the very low side.
What I am saying is that people will keep buying it because it is the best looking game on the system, so that it will be get extra sales that it wouldn't otherwise get. Being a PS+ game will hurt not help, since I assume this "battle" is for physical copies only and being on PS+ would kill that
Are you saying that there will be more Xbox Ones when TItanfall launches compared to the number of PS4s when Killzone launches? What I have been trying to say is that Killzone will be the PS4's default launch title for a while. There won't be that many released after launch, though by Q1 more should be coming. Killzone will still be the best looking game on the system and the best one to show to off your new console which will ensure it sells well.
Having said that, I do think Titanfall will sell more, I just don't quite agree with your reasoning. I think it will be a lot closer than you are suggesting because I think Killzone will sell a lot more than you expect, but I just expect Titanfall to keep selling for a while since it is the main reason to get an Xbox One
