The Classic Controller (Pro) should work in all games that support the Pro Controller, as long as the game in question doesn't use the sticks as buttons as well. Unfortunately, the reality is that not all developers, including Nintendo themselves, support it. Compatible controllers are shown on the back of game cases. For example, Pikmin 3 supports Gamepad, Pro Controller and Wiimote+Nunchuk while The Wonderful 101 supports Gamepad, PC and CC(P).

The regular classic controller, not the pro one that game with Monster Hunter (I'm assuming you mean that one when speaking here).  Like can that be used when PC and CC(P) are displayed?  Though if they have to list PC then I'll assume no :/
