Good for you but failure rates where just as bad. i had 4 break on me.

I don't recall a PS2 failure rate debacle the likes of the RROD disaster. If you had 4 PS2 brakes on you, I find it hard to believe it was the PS2's fault entirely or you're a masochist. Then again, I couldn't find any statistics and forums seem to be split on the matter.

EDIT: Wait. so the PS2 had a high failure rate and so you won't trust sony. They make the PS3 with a very low failure rate compared to the 360, fixing most of the problems that the PS2 had...and you still don't trust them. Well, alright then.

it wasn't only me, it was all my friends. this was no secret. however sony did a great job of covering it up. Not only that, the social web was not as active as it is today. So the problem was known but not all over the web, like everything is today. Sony has horrible record of backing their products. They don't cover their tv's, I had a early flat screen that died and they wanted to charge me half the cost of it to fix it. Sony is a horrible company to spend big money with. XBOX 360, warranty was so good i walked into wal-mart and got a new core out of the box, instantly. Not only that it was all free.  All companies have problems, its how you handle the problems. I been buying products since the Earlier 90's.  So i have history with them. So you may have your reasons but Sony does not back their products.

Ah, this goes beyond console. Fair enough then.
