The only reason Nintendo would woo Platinum would be if they were dead serious about winning back core gamers in the non-platforming demographics and were willing to take losses on that front.  They're probably doing that with Bayonetta 2, which probably won't sell that well, though it remains to be seen if that's a token attempt or not.

Yeah, and there are more effective and cost efficient ways of doing that, like courting third parties whose games actually sell to just give Wii U roughly equitable treatment when it comes to multiplatform games.

Since this was just Kamiya talking off the cuff as usual it's completely meaningless, especially since he has no say so in Platinum's business decisions anyway, but if it did happen the only way that Nintendo could make it work commercially would be to have Platinum making games in established Nintendo IPs. Which would mean quality games (though Nintendo already does those in house, so... why?) and could be great for things like the hypothetical Kamiya-directed Star Fox everyone is all wet about. But it would also be sad in a way because crazy new IPs is where Platinum really shines (just not at retail).
