And it also depends on your own internet service on how good of a ping you get, Where I currently live on my old internet I’d get a ping of 200 now that I’ve got somewhat better internet I can get a ping of 90-130 which is still quite high, but that’s pinging the same server. When I lived with better internet I’d get really good pings and never had a problem playing games unless it was per to per, like cod or something like that. So even if you live two blocks away from the server you could get bad ping if your internet net sucks. Azure isn't going to be the greatest experience for everyone, besides if you playing someone across the country what's the chance you're going to be hitting the sever closes to you? Maybe you're on the one closes to him. Now what happens if you get thrown in the mix with people in another country? Do they cut that out?

What happens if Sony lets you run your own sever? Like folding at home, but instead of cloud computing you just turn it into a server when you’re not using it. Hell I’d buy a second ps4 just for that.

This is where the match making servers come into play. Spin up server and then match people to that servers with the highest ping. This is what the CDO developers stated they were doing.

As for Sony letting you run your own server, that could be a good move for them.  It could give them something unique that MS is not doing and it could balance the cost of renting servers from a company like rackspace.

Yeah, i get that. That's what they would do now anyway. If i have a better ping to the "florida server" thats where i'll play, but say i want to play with my friend in FL, TX and Cali im in OK. Then what happens then? Add is skill based Match making, and reputation then things look even more bleak for their claim of getting the best ping. And it quite possible with my interent that i'll still have a laggy game.

BTW, my whole point is just staying don't count sony out on Anything, there's always more than one way to skin a cat. People that say they can't do this and that are just being silly and need to pull their head out of the sand.

Opps that should be with the lowest ping lol.  If MS matched people with the highest ping there would be a complete shit storm over that.

If you are playing with your friends, then the server would spin up where all of you had the lowest ping instead of a location closest to you.  This tech is out there now and I believe will be more prevalent within the gaming space as time goes on.

Actually I am not counting Sony out of anything.  This is the great thing about competition is that each company have unique strengths and strategy.  Sony can be easily working on deals MS never thought of and so can MS.  What I am stating is that there will be things that neither company can replicated or not do it easily.  MS has the brute force power to throw money and servers around which Sony really cannot match.  Its an advantage and good business for MS to leverage this strength.  Sony also have Strengths they will bring to bear on the market as well.  Even Gaikai does things that MS cannot easily replicate without ponying up a lot of cash.

The only thing I am trying to do is show people you cannot dismiss MS cloud initiative within the gaming space.  None if this technology is new, just that its purpose is new. I actually want to see Sony response to MS dedicated server iniative and if they will take on more cost to counter or will they just bring out something MS has not thought of to gain developer and consumer mindshare.
