You don't really need a blu-ray Drive. You can get a DVD drive and save ~35 bucks. I have one and don't use it at all.
Unless ofcourse you want to watch blu-rays on computer. I could be wrong but I don't know of any software that ships on Blu-ray. It's all Digital Distribution or DVD's and doesn't seem to be progressing to a point where they'll use Blu-rays for anything other than movies in the near future.
