Fundamentally yes, first party studios will be the main differentiatiors, but that will not be visible until later this next gen. All because of assymetrical strategies. Xbox investing massivelly while Sony cutting costs on development. Digital Foundry already made a launch comparison based on E3 demos from the actual consoles (not PCs), overall in X1's favor.

And regarding multiplatforms yes I fully agree with you. The differences should take at least a year. And personnally they might never happen if X1 becomes the lead platform again considering it seems to have the more efficient development environment again.

Not sure about E3, companies have been known to do lots of smoke and mirrors and I am not convinced about any games that have been shown - even more so that in most cases we havent actually seen the dev kits plugged in. I know EG said they believed some of the MS demo's were on devkits, but i currently am not convinced. I am going to Eurogamer show in September so will at least get to see the PS4 games.. :)

Sony's development environment is strangely better than MS's at this point in time apparently.
