Mostly reviews are just superficial and full of bias more or less like forum posts. If you really want to know if a game is good or bad you have to try it. The issues whith this games sound a lot like the issues whith DKC: "the control response is not immediate you have to get used to it and I'm lazy", or like the issues whith Dark Souls: "this game is difficult and it doesn't tell me where to go in any moment and I'm lazy." In the end, you'll get the best score on metacritic by making a good looking presentation and rendering the game as conforming as possible.

Except Dark Souls reviewed much better and the Wonderful 101 score will only go down as more sites review it.

I've never expected W101 to score better than my fav game of the last 5 years, still Dark Souls was cirtized by many rewievers the way I mantioned. I could make some more examples if you want, but the underlined fact doesn't change: many reviews are unreliable and the "metacritic system" rewards only conforming games.

I'm not saying you should trust reviews either (at least not to an extent where I solely base my purchasing decisions), just that example was kinda off.
