What I take away from your and outlawauron's post is that the USA are pretty messed up. I suppose that's why the name of the college itself carries much importance, because it sounds like you also have colleges for dummies due to a lack of universal standards.

The country is too large to have universal standards, and not to mention that depending on the state you're in, there are differnet rules and laws that universities have to abide by.
