I think it is like Seece says, depends on how long it is out. Nintendo has kept the DS going despite it selling really bad. I think maybe they are waiting for a Christmas Price cut now that the 3DS is doing great it should not hurt it much. Then kill it off around E3 or something.
But if stays out for another 100 weeks at least, that would mean another Christmas as well.
So it seems plausible still. If's and maybe's....

I didn't really say that, I think it'll be discontinued by early 2015 at latest.
