In a way, yes. I remember being amazed and dumbfounded how well TWD did their story, characters, settings, etc. They had me feeling and sympathizing with the cast, while cursing out others. Not to mention, they had a lot of good of great shockers. I was praisng this game as the best story driving game I had ever played...until the TLoU.
Although TLoU is not exactly unique in its scenario, plot, scenery and cast, the way ND executed it was just brilliant. I completely forgot TWD even existed, so much so, I haven't even thought about 400 days in the past months or so. It made me question my moral standing on some issues, i didn't tear up but seeing the characters struggle during their travels chocked me up. The scenery was great, although i did encounter graphical glitches and some rather bad texturing here and there but it didn't ruin it for me. The music was spectacular. It set the mood for some of the most grueling and gut wrenching moments in video game history.
The voice work was outstanding, the facial animations were superb and the combat, while somewhat sluggish in action, was phenomenal. It was frantic and strategic at the same time, from stealth to all-out war, it worked perfectly.
I expect story-driven to perform similar to TLoU rather than point-and-click adventures like TWD, with a nice mix of story development, exploration and satisfying combat.
