I can see why you say that and why a lot of people think that...as in comparison's terms to the competitors and Nintendo's past consoles it certainly wasn't a success. However, Gamecube was profitable for Nintendo from day one, so Nintendo made money on every single Gamecube sold (20 Million+). Even moreso when you add the games. At the moment, Nintendo is LOSING money on each Wii U sold, so if its sales don't turn around by the end of the year and help some of the games start selling, most people will be ready to call it an absolute flop. Though again, I STILL say even if that happens, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and a price cut could still give the Wii U one last chance.
My main point though was the double-standard...that if Nintendo starts doing decent or even doing well with Wii U, you won't hear a whole lot about it. But if it continues to struggle, the DOOM and GLOOM that Wii U has endured so far will pale in comparison to what's ahead.
