Yes but we don't even know if it will get a sequel, the new X game by Monolith could not be a sequel to Xenoblade...

Final Fantasy games are part of a "franchise" despite not being sequels of each other.  There's no doubt that X will at the very least have what makes Final Fantasy a franchise.
