I got him. The issue was the Pikmin with bombs would get hit by rocks, then the bombs detonate and half the squad goes. What I did was hid all but one bomb at a time out in the corridor, periodically sending Alph back to retrieve them, though i have to say it was luck that he didn't devour half the group while my attention was drawn off retrieving more bombs.

You could have also played the entire fight without bombs. Takes a big longer though, because then you can only stun him when he forms a hill.

I did that, but it took too long such that i failed to get all the fruit back in time, and in this case that was my only fruit for the day (in other cases, like with Vehemoth Phosbat, I had already gotten enough fruit and just decided to come back another day).

Finally got that dangling Starfruit, too. Could've sworn that was too high up for tossed Yellows to catch, but nope.
