no, they'll never profit on the hardware that way and you know how greedy Nintendo is

Uh you do relaise NIntendo is selling WIi U at a loss.

Also you do realise they can't exactly sell ahrdware at a $200 loss as MIcrososft or a Sony could do. THis is simply because the other companies are invovled in more than just gaming so they cna offset losses in one division.

Finally glad to see another constructive comment from you.

you do know they would profit from the wii U eventually but with what the op said they wouldn't. And no one is forcing you to read my comments so keep your bitching to yourself

I guess I agree with what Rolstopable said--that many wouldn't buy the normal Wii U because it would be seen as an inferior (but affordable) option and that others wouldn't buy the higher end model because Nintendo fans aren't graphics whores.  But why would it never be profitable?  If the higher end version wasn't sold at a loss and the lower end version eventually became managable as production costs went down--why wouldn't Nintendo profit?  I'm not going to act like I know a thing about business.  It was just an idea I had.  It seems to have worked for them in the past (not quite with their only home console, but still...).  Explain to me why it couldn't be a financial success?
