Why not, like they've been outshowing everyone the majority of this gen? Your eyes see what they want to.

sony doesn't have enough studios for half that number and it isn't outshowing anyone.

Thats the point, they've created multiple productions within one studio or another and work in tandem with second party. Sony Santamonica watches over the major and minor projects for quality assurance. Finally they will let Santamonica free to make their own IP now. Things are looking up. 

You underestimate a company big tie which has repurposed most of their developers to split into two and increase the output.
