I've actually talked to people who make up the "casual" market (AKA the majority of the market that buys games now), and regardless of which one comes out first, they are much more interested in the Wii U version. That is without even knowing how the 3DS version looks. The reason for that is because they are VERY comfortable with Smash Bros as a home console experience.
