Any positive effect would be ephemeral, and the long-term damage to the structures built upon their own hardware foundations (since there would then be a choice of playing brand new Nintendo games without need for Nintendo hardware) would be difficult to repair. This is why "concern trolls" want it to happen so badly.

Exactly. The people (meaning the public) will at least realize that smartphone and tablet games are cheaper than buying a console and then a 60$ game, it will definitely hurt console sales, and it would create a world where people would almost not even consider buying any of Nintendo's hardware if the games are available on something they already own.

I also aagree with the fact that the people who are "pushing" this are in fact "concern trolls". Probably the same trolololo people who want Nintendo to go 3rd party.
