Price is not the issue, games are. People aren't buy a Wii U because Pikmin 3, and Super Mario Land, aren't good enough of a reason to upgrade from a Wii.
Why drop the price? It won't help sales.
Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, Super Mario 3D Worlds, and Mario Kart 8 will boost sales, not $50 of a price cut.

If you really want a cheap Wii U, look for sales. Wallmart in Canada sells it for $200, and it's not going to be helping sales much at all.
