I got flamed for being a jerk to people who disagreed with me, so I'm gonna try to be as robotic as possible:
A. The Japanese have, historically, picked a console and stuck with it, at least until saturation.
B. The Wii is already far ahead in Japan and outselling it abotu 4 to 1 weekly. That's widening the gap significantly each week.
C. Moster Hunter 3 is a Wii exclusive.
I can certainly see why you want the PS3 to make a turnaround of legend in Japan, and it just might do so in the US and Others(it's got to beat the Wii first, turnaround doesn't mean beat the second place guy on a weekly basis and be set to pass him in 2 years, in my book).
However, I believe that even if there was a huge turnaround in Others and America, which seems unlikely, I can't see Japan turning around, considering how hugely popular Nintendo is there atm. DS brand name is helping the Wii, Japanese culture is helping the Wii. Nothing the PS3 has tried so far has done even one bit of good for it in Japan, even price cuts. No, there will be no big turnaround in Japan. The sales will flip-flop during price cuts, supply issues on both sides, and big game releases, but the PS3 will never beat the Wii in japan on a overall yearly chart. Its just too late for it to take top spot in that country, no matter how "times they are a changing."
I mean, the Wii is getting freakin' close to the PSP in Japan already. I don't see the PS3 being a PSP type success in Japan....ever, do you?
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
