I didn't see your response :(.  What's this you speak of side loading?  They left an APK launcher?

you can transfer apk's via adb.  now that I think of it, it should also work with airdroid. Manually downloading apk's via webbrowser should also work. What also works is the amazon appstore so there is at least an alternative to google play.

This is all thoery though; did Ouya lock the actual APK launcher?  I mean, has anyone tried to move APKs to Ouya?

What? This is not theory, this is what people did and do - look at the xda-forums. And as I read, there is an apk-launcher, but you have to do a "make" before or sth. I don't know further details because Ouya is not available in Germany by now.
