Horror movies always seem to make money at the box office I think the remake of The Thing was the last one that lost money at the box office. They are also pretty cheap to make most of then cost less then $50 million dollars to make (most of them cost a lot less) due to the lack of many different location shots and usually the casts feautres a lot of unknow and lesser known actors.
