My estimate for 3DS software drought is for mid to late 2014 once the known titles like pokemon, new zelda and MH have released.I don't think we'll see another round of titles from Nintendo besides the 3 mentioned above because they already need and will need all hands on the Wii U software ship. The PSP has been dead in America for years and I can still go buy one at my local Walmart or Best Buy. New titles have long ago dried up on this side of the shores to boot. Why developers would is easy. Less competition and as smaller Japanese devs are finding digital is really profitable. Titles like Rogue Legacy on Steam for instance would work really well for the portable format. Make more money because they dont have to get retail presence and often Sony seems willing to promote the titles for them on PSN.Sony could capture the development of studios not ready for big development in the west much the way they have given Vita a niche for software support in Japan. My time table would put this 3.5 to 4 years into the life of the 3DS. That seems to be the about when Nintendo abandons a console software wise and hope that 3rd parties float it so they can start on their next venture. That hardly ever works out for them though. This is what creates the more rapid shift completely to their new console. I am seeing a situation Kinda like how PSP did with the DS in Japan. It didnt beat it in weekly sales in the beginning but torwards the end it did. It was just way too late to really matter. |
mid- late 2014 drought? I highly dought it. The games that will have come at that time will be SSB4 and MH4(US+Europe), and i can guess that during this time nintendo will have games such as Kirby and LoZ Majora's Mask. That and more, and beside i can tell you that 2015 will have Pokemon Z and Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Remakes will come + Much Much More!
