I think the "games sell systems" bit is a little overrated.
The right GAME + some supporting titles drive hardware sales.
The 3DS had Luigi's Mansion and DKC and Fire Emblem earlier in the year and was still flat YoY or down.
Animal Crossing is what finally gave the 3DS a month which was a clear rise YoY.
It's like building a sports team, you need the superstar player to build the team around.
