I never buy consoles full price at launch, always wait at least one year, often two before I buy one. I do buy a lot of games but the vast majority are at Platinum price point.
This gen, I think I bought two games for my PS3 at full price (GT5 and The Last of Us) but I own 21 PS3 games now so the total is still fairly high.
For the PS2, I own/owned well over 100 games, some bought at full price.
I also had a lot of games for PS1 and N64 and games were really expensive back then.
Overall, I spend a lot of money on consoles despite purchasing almost everything at a fraction of the full price, the sheer volume of purchases ensures this.
With the console, accessories and all the games, my PS3 probably cost me around 8000-9000 NOK thus far, the PS2 probably cost me over 15.000 all in all.
