I think you fail to realize that there's a large portion of 3DS owners who are 18+ years old.

I was under the impression that it's 18+ in other countries but I didn't really look into it.  
Anyway, a really good argument to use here is that Resident Evil: Revelations is rated M and has sold much more than the estimates here.
