"Melee... on the internet?!? For God sakes man, we can't have that!"

~Actual quote overheard at a meeting at Nintendo HQ.

Nintendo worked damn hard to make sure thsoe GameCube games stayed offline. Damn Sega had to wreck the GameCube's offline purity.

They sure did.. I understand it would have been tough to have the broadband infrastructure ready to go at launch for a game like Melee, but by the time Mario Kart Double Dash was released 2 years later, it was practically begging for an online mode.  Dedicated fans even went so far as to create a "tunneling" project that allowed (although barely playable) DD to be played online.

Animal Crossing would have been another huge benefactor of online support... instead of having a dedicated memory card packed in, an online feature would have allowed for all sorts of cool social interactions and communities to flourish.

But once again, if it seems like a good idea, even a no brainer in some cases, then it means Nintendo will probably want nothing to do with it.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
