The actual image is rendered internally at 720x1280, but when it's output to the television it's resized to fit a 1080x1920 pixel display.

Not quite all; some render below that (Black Ops II, 720x880 native) and some above. (Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, 1080x1920 native)

That is true, but I was referring to the 1080p output. It's being mentioned like a feature but the WiiU outputs every game @ 1080p, even Wii games.
