Yea I'm hoping it is closer to Melee in terms of speed as well (and other aspects too). I just want the characters to be diversified and to avoid the 'me too' approach as much as possible. I love how Luigi diverged from Mario over time. I want to see that with other characters as well.
My only concern rests with the online, but if it doesn't work out then ... meh. I'll bring my Wii U by my buddy to play. 
I play it with him anyway.
